According to Evening Standard, Troy Parrott is set for a loan switch to Millwall. The Tottenham Hotspur attacker is close to agreeing a deal that would see him being shipped to a season-long loan deal to the Championship outfit. Moving to Millwall would mean that Parrott will be following the footsteps of Harry Kane, who was also loaned out to the club back in 2012.

Do Tottenham Need Troy Parrott?

Following the departure of Fernando Llorente, it was always thought that Troy Parrott might finally receive his big break. Yet weirdly, the striker, who is regarded as one of the most gifted youngsters in the Tottenham academy, featured only for five minutes in the recently concluded Premier League campaign.

Needless to say, Parrott has not been able to impress Jose Mourinho, much like a host of other Spurs players including Tanguy Ndombele and Juan Foyth. The 18-year-old, however, certainly has an opportunity to do so given the lack of depth in the number nine slot.

Indeed, Spurs have Harry Kane as their only reliable option in the goalscoring department. They have fared miserably without the English international leading the line and with the club yet to sign any alternative, Parrott is still technically the primary backup.

That being said, Mourinho does have other options in Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura, both of who can operate in a central role. Besides, Spurs are more than likely to sign a number nine this summer. In fact, they were notably linked with a return of Llorente, even.

Can Parrott Find His Luck at Millwall?

Millwall might not be a Premier League club, but they could certainly be an ideal destination for Parrott next season. This is primarily because the Lions do need a new striker.

Goalscoring has indeed been a problem for Millwall, who scored the fewest number of goals in the top half of the Championship table this season. Their strikers in Matt Smith and Tom Bradshaw have not been able to provide the goods, thus accentuating the need for someone like Parrott.

The 18-year-old has already shown his potential and could undoubtedly prosper at Millwall, under the leadership of Gary Rowett. A host of talented youngsters, including Tammy Abraham and Rhian Brewster have already found success in the Championship recently and Parrott could follow their footsteps in the coming season.
