Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side secured progress into this season’s edition of the FA Cup final after beating top-four rivals Manchester United by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline. The Red Devils started the game strongly but were put through wave after wave of Chelsea attack once the Blues took control in midfield.

The opener came in first-half stoppage time through Olivier Giroud, and from that point the London club were cruising. A De Gea error from a Mason Mount rocket early in the second half doubled their lead, before a Harry Maguire own goal piled on the misery even further. United’s consolation goal came in the form of a Bruno Fernandes penalty, but by that point that Stamford Bridge club had already done enough to book a London derby final against Arsenal at the Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Manchester United

Willy Caballero – 7

The veteran stopper was sent the wrong way by Fernandes for the United penalty, but put in an assured performance between the sticks. Wasn’t required to make too many saves over the ninety.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7.5

The Spanish veteran put in a stellar shift down the right side of the Blues’ three-man back-line tonight. Defended when required to, but got forward and played multiple threatening crosses into the box.

Kurt Zouma – 7

The Frenchman found himself in a few dangerous positions in the United box over the ninety, but that didn’t take anything away from his defensive performance. Strong against aerial balls.

Antonio Rudiger – 7.5

The German put in a much more solid display than the last couple of fixtures tonight as he didn’t allow the United attackers any opportunities to run in behind. Showcased his blistering pace.

Reece James – 7.5

The youngster was deployed in the right wing-back role and he did an excellent defensive job on the likes of Rashford and Williams. Spent a majority of the fixture in United’s half of the pitch.

Jorginho – 7

The Italian was composed in possession all through the fixture and he didn’t get caught in possession of the ball either. Kept things ticking from his position in the core of the Chelsea side.

Mateo Kovacic – 8.5

The Croatian displayed amazing finesse in the Chelsea engine room tonight as he ran things with his quick passes and sly dribbles. Made some darting forward runs and worked hard in defence too.

Marcos Alonso – 7

The Spaniard caught the United full-back out on a couple of occasions tonight, and he managed to deliver some decent crosses too. Looked much better in his preferred role of wing-back.

Willian – 7.5

The veteran speedster put in an extremely hard-working shift down the flank as he never stopped running all through the ninety. Tried to make attacking inroads and tracked back very effectively as well.

Olivier Giroud – 8

The French forward picked up some excellent positions all through the fixture, and did well to open the scoring in the manner that he did. Held the ball up efficiently and linked up play too.

The Englishman was a constant nuisance on the United defenders as his pressing off the ball was relentless. Moved around with confidence and did well to force a mistake out of De Gea.
