Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side secured progress into this season’s edition of the FA Cup final after beating top-four rivals Manchester United by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline. The Red Devils started the game strongly but were put through wave after wave of Chelsea attack once the Blues took control in midfield.
The opener came in first-half stoppage time through Olivier Giroud, and from that point the London club were cruising. A De Gea error from a Mason Mount rocket early in the second half doubled their lead, before a Harry Maguire own goal piled on the misery even further. United’s consolation goal came in the form of a Bruno Fernandes penalty, but by that point that Stamford Bridge club had already done enough to book a London derby final against Arsenal at the Wembley Stadium.
