According to a recent report by The Guardian, West Ham United have offered a new contract to Jeremy Ngakia whose current deal at the London Stadium expires at the end of this month. The same source has also mentioned that the English right-back is considering the option to seal a move to Watford as a free agent later this summer which will be a massive blow for the Hammers. With time running out, it is no wonder that David Moyes is desperately trying to convince him to stay at East London beyond this month by offering him a last-gasp contract.

Ngakia’s Sensational Rise At East London In Recent Years

Ngakia joined the Hammers at an early age and has successfully made his way up the club’s youth ranks before breaking out as a first-team starter earlier this season. He had made four senior appearances for the London outfit this term, receiving a total of 360 minutes of game time in the Premier League before the football world came to an abrupt halt because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The English youngster has shown some signs of promise with his performances in the English top tier so far. The 19-year-old has the potential to secure a regular right-back spot in Moyes’ first XI next season, so he should reconsider his stance on making a switch away from the English capital this summer.

Ngakia is a highly versatile player as he primarily operates as a right-back but can also do a decent job in midfield as a right-sided winger if needed. His incredible versatility, coupled with remarkable potential, make it a necessity for West Ham to tie him up to a new contract before the end of this month.

What Does The English Full-Back Offer On The Pitch?

Ngakia can use his pace and determination to make some driving runs with the ball down the right flank. He is also a mean defender at the back due to his tenacity to win possession back for his team. However, the English whizkid is still quite raw and would need time to develop into a top performer in the Premier League someday.

Why The Hammers Cannot Afford To Lose Ngakia This Summer

At 19, Ngakia’s ceiling is sky-high as he could end up becoming an England international in the not too distant future. Plus, he has shown a few glimpses of his brilliance during this campaign. He has what it takes to give both Pablo Zabaleta and Ryan Fredricks a run for their money in the race to earn a permanent starting berth at the London Stadium in the upcoming season.

All in all, the London side cannot afford to risk parting ways with Ngakia without receiving a transfer fee for his services in return this summer. It doesn’t make sense for the Hammers to lose Ngakia, who seems destined to be a class act at right-back someday. Now it would be up to the player to decide what lies ahead for him in the coming seasons.
