Everton will clash heads with Liverpool at Goodison Park on Sunday evening hoping to stop their local rivals’ march towards the Premier League title. The Toffees will have to go for the victory in the Merseyside derby if they want to make up some ground and climb to the top half of the league table. Hence, this upcoming derby could prove to be a mouth-watering clash full of goals and drama with both sides battling tooth and nail for the three points.

Carlo Ancelotti might opt for a 4-4-2 formation once again as the Toffees set themselves up to be hard to beat when the Reds come to their backyard this weekend.

4-4-2 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool

Jordan Pickford will play in between the sticks for the home side as he focusses on producing an impressive display versus the 2019 UEFA Champions League winners on Sunday. Mason Holgate will operate alongside Michael Keane at the centre of Ancelotti’s defence. Both of them can expect to be pinned back inside their box with the Liverpool frontline always focussing on exposing their weaknesses on the counter. Yerry Mina is a significant doubt for this game, so Ancelotti could find himself short of defensive options on the bench.

Seamus Coleman could get the nod to start in the right-back position while Lucas Digne tries to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both Everton full-backs will need to defend valiantly if they are to stop the opposition from getting in behind them out on the wide areas.

Andre Gomes and Tom Davies will sit deep at the centre of Ancelotti’s midfield hoping to make life difficult for the visitors this weekend. Gylfi Sigurdsson might be utilised as a makeshift wide player down the left flank while Djibril Sidibé provides some added defensive protection for Coleman on the right.

Fabian Delph is a significant doubt for this clash, but both Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin can be ruled out because of injury.

Richarlison will continue his promising attacking partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top. Both attackers were enjoying a decent run of form before the football world came to an unexpected halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They will be eager to impress and prove their worth to Ancelotti by producing a goal-scoring performance in the Merseyside derby this weekend.

Anthony Gordon could be a part of the Toffees bench and might get an opportunity to come on and influence the game if required.
