According to Football.London, David Moyes is tipped to offload West Ham star Andriy Yarmolenko this summer. The West Ham boss is keen to undergo a squad overhaul, which could see the departure of some of the existing stars, with the Ukrainian winger reportedly topping the list. Yarmolenko’s current contract expires in 2022.

A spell ravaged by injuries

Yarmolenko initially joined West Ham back in 2018, in a €20 million move from Borussia Dortmund. He was brought in as part of the club’s attacking overhaul, with the Hammers also signing Felipe Anderson and Lucas Perez in the corresponding summer transfer window.

Yarmolenko began his career in England on a positive note, forming a nice wide attacking partnership with Anderson. However, he picked up an Achilles injury in October 2018 that kept him out for almost nine months. He returned to action in the summer.

However, this season, it has been pretty much the same story for the Ukrainian. The winger was more or less a key component in the West Ham attack before he picked up an abductor muscle injury.

Yarmolenko’s misfortunes have seen the ex-Dortmund star muster a combined total of only just under 1,500 minutes of league football, during which he has scored only five goals.

Moyes has been unlucky with the lack of form of star attackers like Anderson and Yarmolenko. While the former has found it challenging to find the back of the net, Yarmolenko’s injuries woes have left the ex-Man United boss devoid of reliable options in the final third.

Therefore, it would perhaps be a good idea to offload the Ukrainian this summer. His lack of success, combined with a plethora of fitness problems, have already suggested that he is not ready to thrive in the Premier League. Additionally, the departures of him and Anderson this summer could create some much-needed space in the West Ham attack.

It could also provide the Hammers with a financial boost, with the ex-Dortmund winger being one of the highest-paid players in the team. The Londoners could use that money to fund moves for new players as Moyes look to undergo a major squad overhaul after the end of the campaign.
