According to a recent report by The Daily Express, Real Madrid are preparing to launch a cut-price £70m bid to acquire the services of their long-term target and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba during the summer transfer window. The same source has also claimed that the French powerhouse is eager to make a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this summer with his current contract at Old Trafford set to run out at the end of next season. It is believed that Pogba has no intention of penning a contract extension at the Theatre of Dreams which could open the door for him to seal a cut-price move to Los Blancos in this off-season.

Pogba’s Injury-Ridden Spell At Man United This Season

Pogba has endured one of the most frustrating seasons of his football career after missing a significant chunk of this campaign due to a serious ankle injury. He has only participated in eight matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this term but has provided two assists in multiple competitions. The French playmaker has only received a total of 610 minutes of playing time on the pitch and still waiting to make a comeback from his recent ankle problem.

Maybe joining Zinedine Zidane’s revolution at the Spanish capital could provide him with the perfect platform to make a fresh start by rediscovering his old form at the top level. Pogba’s injury absence has hurt the Red Devils’ chances of landing a top-four spot. However, Solskjaer had done well to keep his team in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League qualification place before the football world came to an unexpected halt due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will be expected to play another crucial role in Didier Deschamps’ French national side when the UEFA European Championship finals kick off in the summer of 2021. He has found the back of the net on ten occasions in 69 senior matches for Les Bleus thus far. Hence Pogba could be ready to shine once again at the international level if he can show a clean bill of health and stay injury-free over the next 15 months.

What Will The French Midfield Maestro Bring To The Bernabeu?

When the 27-year-old is firing on all cylinders, he can be an unstoppable force for his team at the centre of the park. Pogba is technically-gifted and can use his quickness and power to create a lot of problems for the opposition defenders. He possesses the vision to cook up some decent goal-scoring chances for his teammates going forward and is also a deadly striker of the ball from long range as his shots often pack a lot of venom and precision. However, his recent injury setbacks have raised a lot of concerns over his long-term future and whether he still has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

Will Pogba Be A Dream Acquisition For Zidane?

Pogba will not only add another dimension to Zinedine Zidane’s midfield but also increase competition for places within his squad. Both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are not getting any younger while James Rodriguez has struggled to stay injury-free in recent seasons. Therefore, the Spanish giants can benefit from recruiting a midfielder of Pogba’s power and attacking prowess as he will add a lot of quality to their first-team.

The French superstar has all the skillset needed to become a success story at the Bernabeu, but only if he can stay away from injuries in the years to come. With all things considered, Pogba will be a dream signing for Los Blancos, especially if they can get him for £70m this summer, as he will help them challenge for multiple trophies over the next few seasons.
