As reported by Birmingham Live, Jamie O’Hara believes Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Jack Grealish in the upcoming summer transfer window.

“Grealish would fit perfectly into Spurs’ set-up. He gets into those pockets, he makes things happen, and he would be the one that could link up and put people in like (Lucas) Moura, Son (Heung-min) and (Steven) Bergwijn. I think Grealish would definitely be on Tottenham’s shopping list.”, the former Spurs midfielder told Talksport.

How has Grealish fared this season?

Grealish has been one of the bright spots in an otherwise dire season for Aston Villa, a team that have been flirting with relegation throughout the entirety of the campaign.

Despite being labelled as an attacking midfielder, the club captain has featured predominantly as a left-winger. And since changing to a wide role, Grealish has been far more productive, having already netted seven goals while mustering six assists in just 25 games this season.

Grealish’s ability to create chances in the final third has really caught the eye. In fact, only Emiliano Buendia and Kevin de Bruyne have managed to deliver more key passes than the Aston Villa star this season. Meanwhile, his tally of 58 completed dribbles with a success rate of 64% is also among the best in the league.

But, it is Grealish’s hunger of finding the back of the net that has made him one of the most sought after players in the Premier League. Indeed, he has attempted 55 shots on goal – more than any other Aston Villa player.

Why Tottenham must make a move for Jack Grealish

Grealish’s performances this season should not be overlooked. His spark in the final third is something Tottenham Hotspur could really use next season, especially with Christian Eriksen moving to Inter Milan in January.

As O’Hara clarified, the Aston Villa ace could ease Spurs’ transition in the final third by linking up with the likes of Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min as well as Steven Bergwijn. He could muster scoring opportunities, ultimately making Spurs much more effective going forward, especially with Harry Kane leading the line.

But more importantly, Grealish is capable of operating in the half-space. That means he could compete with Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso while featuring in a wide role is also an option. Essentially, the arrival of this Englishman will provide Jose Mourinho with a host of tactical choices in the final third.

Moreover, Grealish has garnered a decent amount of experience in English football, making him a safer alternative when compared to foreign players playing in a different league. And at the age of 24, he could turn out to be a smart long-term investment for the Lilywhites.
