Pierre Emerick Aubameyang
Season So Far
The Gabon international forward has been fortunate enough to be able to take over the captain’s armband after the Granit Xhaka debacle, and it’s safe to say that he’s the one who has deserved it the most among all the Arsenal players. The prolific attacker has played in a variety of positions for the Gunners all through the campaign and has even picked up an excellent record of 14 goals from his 22 league appearances this season.
What To Expect
Losing a player of Aubameyang’s pedigree could’ve had a gutting impact on the Arsenal team and his presence for the remainder of the season is sure to lift the spirits within the squad. Moreover, the Gunners are still contenders for the FA Cup and Europa League – both tournaments that Mikel Arteta should look to target. This means that Aubameyang’s exploits up front is sure to become even more integral during the latter stages of the season, as the race for the top four really heats up.
Daniel Ceballos
Season So Far
The 23-year-old began his Arsenal career with a bang, as during his first ever start, the youngster pulled off an absolute sparkler of a performance. He showed excellent confidence in possession and looked like the driving midfielder that this Arsenal side has been long-missing. Although the Spanish international’s form did eventually diminish, the muscle injury he picked up in early November completely destroyed the momentum that he had built up. With a Premier League record of two assists from 11 appearances, the Spaniard must surely improve in the coming months.
What To Expect
Going by what the former Real Betis man produced in his first couple of games in an Arsenal shirt, it wouldn’t be crazy to expect Mikel Arteta to once again bring the best out of his midfield starlet. The youngster is an excellent dribbler of the ball and unquestionably has a mean pass under his belt as well. Mesut Ozil has been far from his best for a long time now, and Ceballos has all the right qualities to step into the German’s shoes and make the attacking midfield position his own for the rest of the campaign.
