According to a recent report by Italian news outlet Sport Mediaset, Premier League giants Manchester United are being credited with an interest in the acquisition of former Liverpool midfield star Emre Can. The Juventus man has been struggling for playing time since the start of the campaign, and saying that his career in Turin could be drawing to a gradual close certainly wouldn’t be overstating things.

The report suggests that Manchester United are readying up a £30m bid for the German international, but are set to face competition from the Premier League in the form of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur side. Serie A outfit AC Milan are also said to be in the race for the midfielder’s signature, meaning that a winter departure does begin to look more and more likely from the outsider’s perspective.

What Would Emre Can Add To Manchester United?

Liverpool fans will vouch for the fact that Emre Can can be a high-quality player, with consistency being the only thing holding him back from becoming one of the best midfielders in the continent.

He is a gritty and powerful footballer who knows how to use his physicality just as well as how to profit on the ball. Despite being just 26, the former Bayern Munich academy product shows excellent maturity and general composure while on the pitch.

The German can be the commander a midfield requires, and his passing range makes him a good option for a counter-attacking side as well. Having spent just under four years playing Premier League football at Liverpool, the midfielder could be a pretty safe bet for a side like Manchester United, especially considering just how badly Ole’s side has been struggling to find a functional core for the team.

Why Manchester United Must Sign Emre Can At The Earliest.

The 26-year-old played in a little over 150 fixtures for the Reds during his time at Merseyside and was slowly beginning to capture the heart of the Anfield faithful when he made the move to the Juventus Stadium. With a couple of years now past, the German is yet to nail down a place in the Old Lady first-team and has been struggling for playing time under the strict regime of former Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri.

United, on the other hand, have been in the market for midfielders since before the start of the campaign, and have been facing the effects of their inability to go out and sign one. The injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay have come as gutting blows to the United backroom team, and acquiring a player of Emre Can’s quality and reputation mid-season would surely go a long way in their hunt for a Champions League spot at the end of the term.

Nikhil has been an avid Chelsea fan for as long as the concept of time has existed and rumours say that he even bleeds blue. Having lived in the UK for 3 years, Nikhil is said to have an excellent understanding of the atmosphere surrounding the English game. His role model is the greatest manager of all time - Jose Mourinho.
