How Did Francisco Trincao Make A Name For Himself?

Born in Viana Do Castelo in the winter of 1999, Francisco Trincao began his footballing career at Vianense and FC Porto before eventually finding his way to Portuguese giants Braga. The youngster joined the club in 2011 as a young boy and has since developed into one of their most prized possessions. The trickster gradually made his way up the ranks at the Liga NOS club, before eventually breaking into the first-team picture in 2018.

The youngster has featured across various levels of the Portuguese youth squads and currently plies his trade for the U21 division. He has made a total of 11 league appearances for Braga this season and has picked up a relatively decent return of two goals and two assists. What Will Trincao Add To This Barcelona Team?

Adept at carrying the ball, the youngster has come to be renowned for his dribbling skills down the flanks. Despite being just 20, he displays excellent decision making in the final third and also has the confidence and talent to take defenders on and beat them. Most importantly, though, the Portuguese winger is as versatile as they come. Originally a right-winger by position, Trincao is comfortable operating anywhere across the front line, making him an attractive prospect for a club like Barcelona.

Why Barcelona Have Done Well To Secure The Trincao Signing?

The Catalan giants have been rather dependant on the attacking contributions provided by Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in recent years. Despite the summer acquisition of French superstar Antoine Griezmann, it’s an issue that will come up again in the long run. There’s no denying that the aforementioned duo are both in the wrong side of their thirties, meaning that it makes full sense for Barcelona to look for eventual replacements. When the player in question is as good as Trincao, it just makes the situation that much sweeter.
