According to a recent report by Calciomercato (via Milan Live), AC Milan are considering making a move to secure the signature of Everton striker Moise Kean when the transfer window reopens in January. The same source has revealed that the Serie A giants are keeping tabs on the Toffees frontman and could make an offer for him during the winter transfer period if he continues to struggle at Merseyside this season.
Kean’s Frustrations At Goodison Park
Kean has made a lacklustre start to his life at Goodison Park and has still not managed to establish himself in Marco Silva’s first-team yet. The ex-Juventus forward is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his new employers and has earned just one assist in ten matches for the Toffees this season.
The Italian youngster has looked like a striker out of form and is currently lacking confidence in front of goal. He has often been used as an impact substitute by Silva, but that has not helped his cause. The 19-year-old has played only 268 minutes of Premier League football this season which has been quite underwhelming for the Everton supporters.
Hence, a change of scenery in January might suit the player as it could help him reignite his career in European football. Silva can also benefit from getting Kean off his wage bill which might free up space for him to add another striker this winter.
Should The Toffees Allow The Italian Striker To Leave In January?
Kean has lost his first-team place to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is not a consistent goal-scorer in the English top-flight. Even though the Italian striker has put in some energetic cameos for the Merseyside club, there is no denying that he has struggled to prove his worth in the top tier of England.
Therefore, Kean should consider returning to his homeland, where he has shown glimpses of his incredible potential. AC Milan needs to build for the future, so it makes sense for them to take a gamble on the Italian forward as he is still young and eager to improve.
As for Everton, they are better off without Kean as he is not good enough to lead the charge for the Blues of Merseyside week in week out in the Premier League. Silva would be wise to cash in on him before his stock plummets, so letting him leave to join Milan seems like the logical move for now.
