Liverpool will clash heads with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday hoping to stretch their 15-match winning streak in the Premier League. The Reds will come into this clash at the back of a 2-0 win over Milton Keynes Dons in midweek. The Merseyside outfit are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table, so Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to see his players pick up maximum points from this weekend’s clash away at South Yorkshire.
The European champions will set-up in a 4-3-3 formation and are expected to make a whole host of changes to their side.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Adrian will return in goal as part of Klopp’s first-team after he was rested against Milton Keynes Dons on Wednesday night. Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip will resume their partnership at the heart of the Reds backline as they try to secure a shutout versus the Blades this weekend.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to start in the right-back position as he looks to deliver some inviting crosses into the Sheffield United penalty box. Andrew Robertson will get the nod to start on the other side in the left-back position. The Scottish full-back will hope to put in another tireless display down the left flank and be a driving force for his team in the opposition half.
Midfield
Klopp could opt to begin this encounter with the midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum. The talented trio will try to establish Liverpool’s domination at the centre of the park by pressing the Blades high up the field. All three players will be keen on winning possession back for the Reds so that they can provide enough ammunition for the front players.
Both James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain featured heavily against MK Dons in midweek so they will have to be content with a spot on Klopp’s bench.
Attack
The Reds frontline will be comprised Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah as they try to link up with each other and wreak havoc in the final third. All three forwards have struggled to finish off goal-scoring chances against Chelsea and Napoli respectively over the past week. Thus, this match against Chris Wilder’s men will be an ideal chance for them to return to form in front of the opposition goal.
Mane is a slight doubt for this game, but he should recover in time to start on Saturday. However, Divock Origi is unlikely to feature in this contest as he continues to make his way back from his latest injury setback.
