According to The Sun, Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic is keen to move to Arsenal this summer as he seeks to complete his lifelong dream of playing in the Premier League. The Croatian international was earlier linked with a move to Manchester United, but with the Red Devils focusing on other targets, the door is open for Unai Emery to make a move for Perisic.
The ex-Dortmund is expected to leave Inter as new coach Antonio Conte looks to make necessary changes to the squad and employ his footballing philosophy in what is expected to be an ambitious project. It is unknown how much Perisic would exactly cost, but the Gunners should be able to afford him if they can offload some of their unwanted players this summer.
Perisic’s success in the Serie A
Perisic joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2015 in a €19 million move from VfL Wolfsburg. And since then, the Croatian international has become a massive hit in the Serie A, notably being involved in 68 goals in 141 matches in the Italian top flight.
His service in the final third has been critical to Inter’s success in the past few years, and despite a host of mediocrity from the club in recent times, Perisic has been able to maintain his consistency. The winger scored eight goals and provided four assists in the recently concluded 2018/19 campaign, in what turned out to be his least productive season as an Inter Milan player.
But, that was still enough to make him the second most productive player for the Nerazzurri as they somehow managed to finish in the top four.
What can Perisic bring to the table?
Perisic is advertised as a technically astute winger, who is adept in playing quick one-twos and link up with teammates in the final third. He also has quick feet and loves to take on defenders with his direct runs. But, what makes the 30-year-old such a sought after attacker in Europe is his knack for scoring important goals.
Additionally, the Croatian international has a vast amount of experience at the highest level of football, having featured in over 300 matches combined during his time in Italy and Germany.
Should Arsenal make a move for Perisic?
As discussed earlier, Perisic has loads of experience, and that could help him integrate himself into English football. The 30-year-old is also blessed with immense technical quality, meaning he could fit in well under the management of Unai Emery.
The ex-Dortmund star can add the much-needed depth in the Arsenal attack that has lacked the services of a potent winger ever since the departure of Alexis Sanchez. Hence, Perisic is a viable target for the Gunners as they aim to kickstart a new era under Emery next season.
