According to The Mirror, Real Madrid are willing to strengthen their side even further after the signing of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard as they eye Paul Pogba as their next target this summer. The French superstar has already declared that he might be open to a move away from his current club Manchester United and the Galacticos seem ready to take advantage of this opportunity.

The 2018/19 season has been nothing short of disastrous for Zinedine Zidane’s side. Every department faltered drastically in completing their respective responsibilities. The time seems correct for a significant overhaul this summer as Los Blancos look determined to make amends for their mistakes in the next term and get their hands on few major silverware.

Real Madrid’s midfield woes

The likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro have not been able to turn up the heat against even the smaller teams in the La Liga this season. In the Champions League as well, all the midfield maestros of Real Madrid were turned into mere spectators as the Dutch giants Ajax knocked them out of the competition in embarrassing style.

The inability of Kroos, Modric and Casemiro would not have been overlooked by the Real Madrid team management and they might look to bring in reinforcements to stabilise the midfield. As per the report, they have Pogba’s name right on the top of their priority list and are desperate for the French midfield maverick to be a part of their side for the next term. They are even ready to offer Gareth Bale, who is currently nothing more than an outcast under Zidane, to Man United.

Why Pogba?

Pogba’s arrival at Manchester United was followed by a series of disappointing performances from the Frenchman until the last term. Under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Frenchman found his form rejuvenated and won several matches for his side. He scored 16 goals and dished out 11 assists in 47 appearances throughout the season, most of it coming after Ole took the wheel at the Old Trafford.

However, speculations are rife that the 26-year-old is now looking for a new club and his next destination could be Santiago Bernabeu. The Real Madrid management is ready to make some significant changes in their starting lineup, and there is a good possibility that they might shake things up in the midfield as well.

Good Fit for Zidane?

The French gaffer is known to be an admirer of his compatriot. In the recent past, he has made no attempts to hide his affinity for the influential midfielder. If the Galacticos can land him this summer, Zidane could put his abilities to good use in a bid to beef up the midfield ahead of the next term.

Having already brought in the likes of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, Real Madrid are already showing their intent about making it difficult for their opponents in the next term. The addition of a top-class midfielder like Paul Pogba is expected to further add to the strength of the side and could turn out to be a shrewd piece of business for them if Los Blancos can rope him in. Now it is to be seen whether the Red Devils would be ready to let go of their superstar or not.
