According to a recent report by Tuttosport, Tottenham Hotspur have intensified their chase for AS Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo during the summer transfer period. However, the same source has mentioned that Juventus are also in the running but are worried about Spurs as they have stepped up their interest to secure the services of the Italian midfielder in this off-season.
Zaniolo’s Rapid Rise In The Italian Top-flight
The Massa born talent graduated from Fiorentina’s academy before his departure as a free agent to play for the Entella Under-19 team back in 2016. Inter Milan decided to give him a chance to prove his value at the San Siro, but Zaniolo was still not ready to break into their first-team which saw him being moved out to Rome last summer.
The Serie A wonderkid has made a name for himself at AS Roma after putting in some memorable performances for them this season. Zaniolo has featured in 36 appearances for the Italian outfit this term, scoring six goals while providing two assists across all competitions.
The 19-year-old has earned two international caps for Italy so far after representing his nation at various youth levels as a teenager. He has a bright future in European football and might play an integral role for the Italian national team in the coming years.
What Will The Italian Sensation Bring To North London?
Zaniolo has decent pace which enables him to complete some lung-bursting dribbles from midfield. The Roma playmaker has proven this season that he can score goals or make assists for his teammates in the final third. When playing with confidence, the Italian youngster can be a useful tool for Claudio Ranieri’s side at the centre of the park.
However, the Serie A midfielder is still an unknown prospect outside of Italy, so there is a chance that he might struggle to cope with the physical toll of Premier League football.
Zaniolo’s Addition: Wise Move For Spurs?
The acquisition of a player of Zaniolo’s potential will undoubtedly bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield options at the new White Hart Lane. He will be a terrific addition for the North London giants in the long-run as he has all the makings to succeed at the highest level.
If Pochettino can manage to bring him to England, then it could be a shrewd move for Spurs as he would be able to help them compete on all fronts next season.
