According to a recent report by the Metro, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in securing the services of Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino this summer with Thomas Tuchel a massive fan of his talents. However, the same source has also revealed that the Reds have no intention of parting ways with their prized asset heading into the summer transfer window.
Firmino’s Productive Season At Merseyside
The Brazilian striker has enjoyed another excellent campaign at Anfield after he put in a series of game-clinching performances under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance during this season. He has also delivered against the more prominent oppositions as evidenced by his man of the match display in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over PSG in the UEFA Champions League group stage match at Anfield earlier in this campaign.
The 27-year-old has made 47 appearances for the Merseyside outfit this term, registering 16 goals while grabbing eight assists in all competitions. He has also earned 29 international caps for the Brazilian national side and has found the back of the net on nine occasions for his nation thus far.
Firmino is versatile enough to play as a centre-forward or in the number 10 position which makes him such a useful member of Klopp’s squad.
What Does The Brazilian Striker Offer On The Pitch?
The former Figueirense prospect rose to prominence at TSG Hoffenheim before his switch to Liverpool in the summer of 2015. He has a decent pace and tends to create chances out of nothing in the final third. The Brazilian international can link up play quite effectively with others around him and is also an accomplished finisher inside the opposition penalty box.
Hence, the Merseyside outfit cannot let him leave at all costs. Firmino is a crucial member of Klopp’s frontline and is the orchestrator behind most of Liverpool’s productive attacks going forward. If he ends up departing Anfield this summer, then the Reds risk falling apart next season as the Brazilian is currently an irreplaceable member of Klopp’s squad.
The Merseyside giants should do everything in their power to keep him at the club for years to come if they are serious about having a sustained period of success in terms of silverware. No matter the transfer fee, Liverpool cannot afford to let the Brazilian go.
