Liverpool’s winger Harry Wilson is going to be in demand in the upcoming summer transfer window. Sky Sports had reported that Newcastle United and Southampton are in the mix to sign him along with other clubs as well. Recently the Wales international gave a hint about his future, and from his words, it seems like he is keen to impress for Liverpool in the future.

Update from the player

The 22-year-old said (The Guardian), ”There is a loan guy called Jools [Julian Ward]; I am in touch with him and he reports back to the manager. I have had a few texts off [Jurgen Klopp]. It’s good to know you are not being forgotten. I wanted to come to a good football team, so I could showcase what I could do. Hopefully, the manager has seen the games on TV, and I’ve made a good impression. I’ll go back there pre-season; what happens from there I don’t know.”

His form for Derby County wouldn’t have gone unnoticed as the winger is currently the top scorer for the Rams this season with 18 goals to his name in all competitions along with six assists. He is still in the dark about his future but Liverpool have reportedly put a £25m price tag on him, and they would be willing to cash in on him in the summer.

Therefore that is good news for the chasing clubs as the Merseyside club is open to selling him. However, it remains to be seen whether any club will match Liverpool’s valuation.

From Wilson’s words, it seems like he is looking to impress at Liverpool. Therefore the player might be keen to stay on with the Reds. However, given the talent which the Premier League heavyweights have, Wilson is unlikely to find regular game time.

The Magpies have shown that they might be shifting towards a more extravagant brand of football for the upcoming season. They signed Miguel Almiron for a record fee in January, and the club is being linked with more attackers. A player like Wilson can make a difference in the attacking third and his goal-scoring returns in the past one and a half season in the Championship has been impressive.

Should Newcastle sign him?

However, there are still some doubts about whether he would be able to replicate such impressive numbers in the Premier League. Nevertheless, he would be worthy signing, and £25m in today’s day and age seems like a reasonable figure. Wilson is far from the finished product, but he does have exceptional talent, which makes him stand out.
