Arsenal Set To Face Strong Competition For This Barcelona Winger: Right Fit For The Gunners?

According to a recent report by Sport (via Sports Witness), Arsenal are in the race to secure the services of Barcelona winger Malcom during the summer transfer window. However, the same source has also revealed that the Gunners will face stiff competition from  Tottenham Hotspur, LOSC Lille, AC Milan and Inter Milan in pursuit of the La Liga sensation in this offseason.

Malcom Will Add More Depth To Emery’s Squad

The Brazilian is a talented winger who Unai Emery can use in the upcoming campaign as his current squad is lacking depth on the flanks. Alex Iwobi is the only natural winger at the North London club which is a surprise for a team with UEFA Champions League aspirations.

Thus, recruiting Malcom this summer could be an important factor in determining whether the Gunners will succeed under Emery’s stewardship next season.

The Brazilian’s Frustrating Season For The Catalans

Malcom has endured a frustrating campaign at the Nou Camp since his arrival from FC Girondins Bordeaux at the start of this season. He has managed to feature in a total of 22 matches for the Spanish champions this term, scoring four goals while grabbing two assists across all competitions. Hence, the Brazilian is in dire need of switching clubs so that he can secure regular game time on the pitch next season.

What Will The Former Corinthians Winger Add To Emery’s Side?

The 22-year-old boasts blistering pace which enables him to dribble with the ball at high speed down the wide areas. The South American starlet is versatile enough to operate on either flank or play as a secondary striker up top. However, he needs to add more goals and assists to his name if he wants to succeed at the highest level.

The Brazilian wing wizard will not only add more width to the Arsenal attack but will also increase competition for places within Emery’s squad. The acquisition of a player of Malcom’s potential will undoubtedly boost Emery’s attacking options at the Emirates Stadium.

Will Malcom Be A Good Fit For Arsenal?

The Gunners need to do everything in their power to bring Malcom to North London so that they have a strong squad capable of challenging on all fronts in the coming years. Malcom has the potential to become a world-class winger if he can unlock and fulfil his true potential. Hence, he will be an excellent fit for Arsenal if they can find a way to win the race for his signature.
