According to a recent report by Tuttosport, as mentioned by Football.Italia, Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move to secure the services of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan at the end of this campaign. The same source has also revealed that Spurs are prepared to reignite their interest in the Croat next summer after failing to land him in January, and Mauricio Pochettino might include ‘the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier’ to bring in the Serie A prospect, who he ‘fell in love’ with during the UEFA Champions League group stages.
This recent development will be a welcome bit of news for the Tottenham fans as they are desperate to see their manager, Pochettino strengthen his squad in the summer to help the North London side end their long wait for a major trophy in the coming years.
The 29-year-old wide man has been a fantastic asset for Inter after he put in a string of match-winning displays under Luciano Spaletti’s tutelage during this campaign. Perisic has managed to register three goals while also creating five assists in 27 appearances for the Italian outfit across all competitions this season.
The ex Bundesliga talent had also played a crucial part for his nation when he helped Croatia get a silver medal in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He primarily operates as a left-winger but is equally capable of featuring from the right or play in the number 10 position as an attacking midfielder. Moreover, Perisic is vastly experienced after playing in many different leagues across Europe during his career.
The Croatia international knows what it takes to win which is precisely the type of talent that Pochettino is looking to recruit to help him in his quest to bring success to the North London club. At 30, the Serie A winger can still be a menace for the opposition defenders as he has a knack for scoring and creating goals from the wide areas.
Thus, the potential acquisition of Perisic will be a shrewd move for Spurs as he would help them perform better in European competitions while also bring in a level of calmness to Pochettino’s dressing room as the Tottenham players look to cope with the pressure of competing on all fronts next season.
