According to a recent report by the Express, Inter Milan are reluctant to part ways with their Croat forward Ivan Perisic with Arsenal looking to snap him up on a loan deal before the January transfer window comes to a close on Thursday night. The same report mentions a recent interview where Inter chief Ausilio has said, “Perisic wants to go abroad, but there are no suitable offers,”
“If he does remain, I expect the same professionalism from him as always.
“We intend to get him back on track and it shouldn’t be a problem. I don’t think it’ll take very long.
“I can say the Inter transfer market is closed.”
Ausilio’s recent comments indicate that the Italian outfit are not willing to let him leave on loan as it is not a “suitable offer” in their eyes. Thus, Luciano Spaletti’s side are looking to retain Perisic’s services for now as they aim to close the gap with Napoli and Juventus at the top of the Serie A standings in the second half of this campaign.
Meanwhile, the Gunners need to bring in some reinforcements this month to help in their quest to earn a top 4 place at the end of this season. Hence, Unai Emery has to find a way to get a few deals over the line in these crucial final hours of this winter transfer period.
With the North London giants inching closer towards sealing a move for Denis Suarez in the coming hours, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has claimed in the Transfer Talk podcast that Arsenal won’t sign anyone else before Thursday’s deadline which ensures that Perisic would be staying at the San Siro for the time being.
“We can safely say Arsenal are interested in both Perisic and Suarez but the likelihood is they will get one or the other before Thursday night, or neither.
“Emery, in his news conference, was asked about Perisic and Suarez and he never gives anything away in regards to transfers.
“He kind of defers it to the transfer committee at Arsenal but he doesn’t deny either.”
Missing out on someone as talented as the Croat talent will be a massive blow for the Gunners, and so they would now need to find another way to keep up with Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to secure a UEFA Champions League spot for the next campaign.
Having said that, scoring goals have not been a significant problem for the London side this term, with both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette providing a lot of firepower up top. Hence, one could argue whether Arsenal needs another attacking talent with so many attackers already on show at the Emirates Stadium.
