Everton are currently playing scintillating football under Marco Silva following the Portuguese manager’s arrival at Merseyside last summer. The Toffees are flying high in the Premier League and sit in the 7th spot of the league standings, just two points behind Manchester United.
At the moment, the Everton boss is spoilt for choices in midfield as he has a plethora of midfielders to choose from at the moment. The central midfield trio of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Idrissa Gueye and Andre Gomes have all worked well together, but the Merseyside outfit would also be boosted by the fact that some of their loan players are doing well for their new clubs.
One such player who is currently enjoying a fruitful spell away from Goodison Park is Nikola Vlasic. The 21-year-old was sent out on a season-long loan to CSKA Moscow to continue with his development. The Croatian prospect is all set to return to Merseyside at the end of this campaign so that Silva can reassess him and decide on his future with the Toffees.
Vlasic has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 20 appearances for the Russian giants this season. He has also earned four international caps for the Croatian national team but is yet to register a goal for his country so far.
Vlasic has performed really well ever since his loan switch to Russia and even put in a sensational performance in CSKA Moscow’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday night. He had a good game against the Galacticos in midweek and set up his team’s third goal on the night. Moreover, he scored the winner against Madrid back in October when the two teams faced off in Russia. Vlasic also found the back of the net in both fixtures against Viktoria Plzen.
The Croatian talent has been enjoying his loan spell in Russia, and his form in the UEFA Champions League has been sensational. The attacking midfielder was named CSKA Moscow’s player of the month for September and October due to his incredible contributions on the pitch.
If he can keep up the same level of high performance, then it is only a matter of time before he breaks into Marco Silva’s first-team at Goodison Park. For now, the Croatian youngster should concentrate on improving his game by gaining as much first-team experience as possible in Moscow before coming back to Merseyside as a better version of himself next summer.
