According to a recent report by Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal have made an offer in the region of £29m for AS Roma winger Cengiz Under, but the Italians have declined the bid as they feel that the fee doesn’t meet their valuation of the player. The same source has also claimed that the Serie A giants are looking for almost double that amount.
Under has been in fine form for Roma and has put in some dazzling displays for them during the course of this campaign. The Turkish talent’s current contract with Roma will run out in the summer of 2022, so the Italian side would be under no pressure to part ways with him next month. The 21-year-old has featured in 19 matches for the Serie A outfit this season, scoring five goals while providing five assists across multiple competitions.
He has also played for his country at various youth levels and is currently a key member of the Turkish national side. At the mere age of 21, Under has already managed to secure 17 international caps for Turkey and has four goals to his name so far.
What Does Cengiz Under Offer On The Pitch?
The Serie A starlet is blessed with a lot of pace and is an excellent dribbler down the wide areas. He has developed a habit of scoring or setting up goals on a regular basis, and that makes him an integral player at Eusebio Di Francesco’s disposal. However, the Turkish prospect needs to work on his finishing if he wants to become a world-class winger in the coming years.
Under is also quite versatile and can play anywhere across the attacking end of the pitch. Moreover, he is a natural winger which makes him a perfect fit for Arsenal as Emery does not have too many talented wide men in his ranks at the moment.
Should The Gunners Make An Improved Bid?
Even if the North London giants have to cough up double the amount of what they are willing to pay right now, it could be a worthy investment. Under is a quality player with massive potential who Emery could use in his quest to win some major silverware over the next few years.
