Manchester City clinched their 14th win of the season as they defeated Everton by 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium. Gabriel Jesus scored twice and Raheem Sterling came off the bench to score the third for the Citizens as the reigning Premier League champions went to the top of the table leapfrogging Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola’s men started to put pressure on the opposition from the word go, and their tactics paid off in the 22nd minute as the Brazilian striker gave City the lead. The German turned provider once again as Jesus scored his second of the evening in the 50th minute. Fernandinho provided the assist for the last goal as Sterling headed the ball home from close range and led his side to a convincing victory.
Everton forwards Richarlison and Theo Walcott missed a number of chances to get their side back into the contest, but it was Dominic Calvert Lewin who scored the only goal for the Toffees in the 65th minute. However, it was too little too less for the visitors.
