Hibernian showed their class against Celtic and Rangers should be wary of Neil Lennon’s side when they travel to Easter Road to take them on in the midweek tie. The Hibs were the deserved winner on the day, and they would be confident of going against another giant from Glasgow.
Rangers have flattered to deceive in the last few weeks but they got the job done against Hamilton the last time around, and they managed to climb on top of the Premiership table. They would look to pile more pressure on Celtic with another three points but this Hibs side is going to be a tough nut to crack for Steven Gerrard and his men.
Ovie Ejaria has returned back to Liverpool cutting short his loan spell. Ryan Kent is set to miss out once again. Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans are likely to miss out for the rest of the season. Alfredo Morelos should be back in the lineup after his suspension.
Rangers predicted lineup vs Hibernian FC
Allan McGregor is a no-brainer to start in goal for the Gers. It seems like Gerrard has finally finalised his best defensive pair as Gareth McAuley and Connor Goldson have been starting together for some time now and we don’t expect the manager to change that in this big tie against the Hibs.
Borna Barisic is a massive threat with his overlapping runs and he should start on the left side of the defence. Captain James Tavernier is going to be in his usual right-back role.
Ryan Jack has stepped it up big time and he has been a consistent performer so far. He is likely to play in the defensive midfield role. Lassana Coulibaly has come in for a lot of criticism but the manager can give him another go in the starting eleven as he should be fresh having played no part in the last weekend’s game. Scott Arfield is the mainstay in midfield and he is again going to be in a box to box role.
Eros Grezda has shown impressive signs but Gerrard is likely to start with Glenn Middleton for this tie. He should start down the left flank. Daniel Candeias has been one of the most influential players in the attacking third in the past one month and the manager would once again depend heavily on him to produce some goalmouth action.
Kyle Lafferty got very close to scoring against the Accies and did a decent job filling in for Alfredo Morelos. However, now that the Colombian is available, he should lead the line for the Bears in this crucial tie.
