Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have made a fabulous start to the season following some terrific displays in the Premier League as well as in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds are hoping to mount a realistic title challenge to Manchester City this season while they are also planning to go one step further in Europe’s premier competition.
Most of the plaudits for the Merseyside club’s excellent start to this campaign has gone to their defenders and rightfully so. The Reds have just conceded three goals in nine league matches so far which is an impressive feat. However, Klopp’s men have been guilty of not finishing off games on certain occasions especially as their front three are still not firing on all cylinders.
Liverpool’s Lack Of Creativity: A Reason To Worry?
Liverpool are in dire need of a creative spark in midfield who can freshen things up in the final third. Xherdan Shaqiri embraced the creative role well versus Red Star Belgrade. However, he doesn’t seem like a long-term solution in that position.
Hence, making a move for a player like Lorenzo Insigne of Napoli could help the Reds make the leap from title contenders to title winners.
What Will Insigne Add to the Reds senior team?
The Napoli attacking prospect is exceptionally versatile and can play in multiple positions across the frontline. The Italian sensation has been a prolific goal-getter for the Naples-based side and has already put in a spectacular display during his team’s UEFA Champions League victory over Liverpool a few weeks ago.
Insigne is very quick and fluid in his style of play and has a habit of scoring and setting up important goals as evidenced by his performance against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. His versatility and sheer class make him an ideal fit for the Merseyside outfit.
Klopp should undoubtedly consider snapping him up as Insigne will add more depth to Liverpool’s attack. The Italian could operate as a facilitator in midfield or as a secondary striker up top which will free up space for Firmino, Salah and Mane to get a breather from time to time.
