Celtic signed Lewis Morgan in January from St. Mirren and loaned him out to his former club once again for six months. Morgan was impressive for his side last term as he managed 18 goals and 13 assists in all competitions. It was expected that after such good numbers he would get a look into the first team at Park Head this season. Rodgers also went on to keep hold of him in the summer instead of sending him on loan.

However, Morgan hasn’t seen much game time as he has made just three appearances in the Premiership so far playing a total of 59 minutes of football. He missed the start of the season with a knee injury but even when fit; he has been the backup option in the current squad.

We believe he is too good a player to sit on the bench at Celtic as in most of the other Scottish teams; Morgan would be their star man on the pitch. The club should definitely look to send him out on loan in January so that he continues getting game time which would help in his overall development. The player has his contract up until 2022 and Morgan has all the facets to be the future superstar at Park Head.

The 22-year-old is a left midfielder but he has played in various other positions as well as in the attacking third. Morgan is currently third in the pecking order at Park Head as Rodgers has preferred Callum McGregor and Scott Sinclair as left-sided wingers. Even someone like Tom Rogic can play that role, so Morgan’s chances in the first team don’t look bright until and unless there is a major injury crisis in the team.

The 22-year-old has even represented Scotland twice in such a short career of his and Rodgers needs to be wary of managing this talent and not letting him waste away on the bench. The club also has someone like Daniel Arzani who can play that kind of role if required be so sending Morgan on loan in January would be a better ploy for his future.

Quite a few Scottish clubs could be interested in him and maybe some English club can also come into the picture to land this talented winger cum midfielder. A move to St. Mirren might also not be bad as they lack a cutting edge in their team after gaining promotion to the top flight as they are currently positioned at 11th spot with just one win under their belt. Maybe someone like Morgan can resurrect that slide, and from a Celtic point of view, he can get some much-needed game time.
