According to Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, as cited by Bleacher Report, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has been backed by the club authority to make decisions regarding the inclusion of German superstar Mesut Ozil. The former German international was left out of the squad for the game against West Ham United, which the Gunners won by 3-1.

The report also said that the player informed his manager about his illness on Friday and so he was not included in the squad for the game the next day. There were speculations of a rift between the player and the manager during training earlier but Emery went onto rubbish any such accusation.

In this context, Law said, “Ozil now faces a fight to win his place back, but Emery will receive the full backing of his Arsenal chiefs over whatever decision he makes—despite the fact the former Real Madrid man is the club’s highest earner on £350,000 a week.”

The journalist also focussed on the fact that Emery faced a similar situation while he was in charge of Paris Saint Germain and had to manage the Brazilian superstar Neymar, who went onto join the French giants for a world record transfer fee from Barcelona. Law said, “Ozil now faces a fight to win his place back, but Emery will receive the full backing of his Arsenal chiefs over whatever decision he makes—despite the fact the former Real Madrid man is the club’s highest earner on £350,000 a week.”

John Cross of Daily Mirror tweeted that it was very brave of Emery to keep Ozil out of the squad and use Aaron Ramsey in his place. The Welshman showed his prowess throughout the match alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the Gunners came back from a goal’s deficit to win the contest.
