Leeds United have agreed on a fee in the region of £7m for Middlesbrough centre-forward Patrick Bamford and will sign him in the coming days, pending a medical.
The 24-year-old had put in a number of breathtaking performances at the Riverside Stadium during the course of last season. The Grantham-born prospect featured in 44 matches for Boro in the last campaign, scoring 13 goals while creating one assist across all competitions. He has also represented his country, England at various youth levels and is exactly the type of talent who could flourish under the excellent leadership of Marcelo Bielsa.
Bamford is quite experienced in the EFL Championship and has previously featured for teams such as Milton Keynes Dons, Derby County, Crystal Palace, Norwich City, Burnley and Nottingham Forest. At such a young age, the English Under-21 international has a lot of areas he can improve in his game but the Whites can definitely reap the benefits of his talents in the years to come.
The youngster is also quite versatile and can feature anywhere across the frontline. He can play on either flank or as a centre-forward up top, which makes him a perfect fit for the Whites.
The West Yorkshire giants had a difficult season last term when they only managed to secure a disheartening 13th placed finish in the English second division. Hence, their new, Argentine manager is in dire need of some promising prospects in this post-season if his team is to compete for major honours in the following campaign.
The acquisition of Bamford will undoubtedly bolster Leeds’ attacking options at Elland Road. The Whites have some promising forwards in their ranks such as Tyler Roberts, Hadi Sacko, Caleb Ekuban and Ezgjan Alioski who are all fighting for a place up top in Bielsa’s frontline. The addition of Bamford will definitely improve their club significantly and add more competition for places within the squad.

At 24, the English frontman still has his best years ahead of him which the West Yorkshire and could prove to be an ideal move for everyone involved.
