Cardiff City Drop Interest In 20 Y/O Leeds United Midfield Ace: Big Boost For Bielsa Amidst Despair?

Leeds United have been handed a massive boost as Cardiff City have distanced themselves from making a move for Ronaldo Vieira. The 20-year-old midfielder has been linked with the Bluebirds for quite some time now, however, manager Neil Warnock indicated that Vieira is not a real target for the club.

He said,”We’ve been linked quite a few times with him and from about four different agents I think, so I don’t know which one of them put it in the press! When I read a couple of things in the papers, I think ‘have I not said no about this player before?'”

Those words are as clear as it gets and Marcelo Bielsa is set to have Vieira at his disposal in the upcoming season.

One of the reasons why Warnock is not after the 20-year-old is because they are looking to make a permanent move for Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic. The Peacocks will certainly not mind that and will be happy to know that their star youngster will be at Elland Road in the upcoming season.

The Englishman had made 32 appearances in all competitions and played a decent role for his side. Though, he will like to become a more regular feature in the upcoming season. Vieira has even represented England at the u-21 level and is one of the brightest talents to come out of the Leeds United’s academy in recent years.

It would have been an uphill task for the West Yorkshire outfit to hold on to the midfielder if Cardiff City were really interested in him as they have qualified to the Premier League and the player would have jumped the ship knowing that he can get a chance to play in the English top flight.

However, Vieira will have some competition for places in the middle of the park as the Whites acquired Lewis Baker from Chelsea on a season-long loan. It will be interesting to see who Bielsa will choose to start in the middle of the park in the upcoming season.

Vieira is a workhorse in midfield and he has good pace and acceleration which he utilises well. However, he needs to improve his passing range if he wants to take his game to the next level. Maybe Bielsa will be able to bring the best out of the youngster with two famous namesakes.
