Tottenham Hotspurs are being linked with the talented Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa. One can understand the boy’s talent from the fact that at just 20 years of age, he has managed to represent his national team Italy. He is being touted as one of the upcoming stars of Italian football and that has put certain English clubs on high alert who are looking to sign him up.

Chiesa is the son of former Italian striker Enrico Chiesa and the winger has had a good season in the Serie A. He has managed six goals and eight assists in the 36 appearances and that has made Spurs think tank ponder about bringing him to north London.

Along with them, their other London rivals Chelsea are also after him and it is being reported that they are monitoring the winger’s situation. Chiesa is traditionally a right winger but is adept at playing in the role of a left winger as well. His dominant foot is the right one and he boasts a powerful shot along with good accuracy.

It will be interesting to see how Mauricio Pocheino will utilise him as he has players like Son Heung Min, Erik Lamela already at his disposal. It is clear that the youngster will have to bide his time at Spurs before he gets a regular playing opportunity.

Tottenham have improved leaps and bounds under Mauricio Pochettino but they seem to be failing to cross over the final hurdle as they have been losing crucial games from winning positions. From Spurs point of view, this upcoming transfer window will be an important one, not in terms of acquisition of players but in terms of whether they are able to keep their golden generation of footballers together.

Chiesa is certainly not going to come in cheap and according to reports, Fiorentina will demand £44m for their young winger. Spurs already have good options available and Chiesa will most likely be a squad player and spending so much on a player who won’t be making the first eleven doesn’t make any sense. He is also slightly on the lighter side and can be taken aback by the physicality and tempo of the English football. He has never played outside of Italy and Spurs shouldn’t take a bet on him as he still needs to prove himself in the Seria A further to be considered as a world-class winger.
