Norwich City are in contention to bring in Wolverhampton Wanderers talented youngster, Cameron John at Carrow Road for next season. The 18-year-old defender is approaching the final year of his contract and along with the Canaries, Brighton and Hove Albion and the recently relegated Stoke City are also vying for his signature.

One often doesn’t see this much competition for a player who hasn’t even played for his senior team but the youngster has been impressive for Wolves u23 and that has caught the attention of quite a few clubs. Wolves are going to be in the big league next season and the chances for the youngster in the first team will be next to nil as they will have a good amount of options in their defence and recently they even snapped up Wily Boly on a permanent basis.

Norwich City finished a dismal 14th and one expected much better from a club who were in the English top flight just a few years back. They conceded 60 goals in their entire campaign and that is certainly not good enough to get them a playoff spot. Daniel Farke will be looking to bring in reinforcements in the summer to mount a better challenge next term and it seems that they have set their sights on Cameron John.

The 18-year-old English defender is traditionally a centre-back but can even play the role of a left back as well. Farke can use his versatility next season in his team as he looks to re-establish the Canaries in English football.

The reports suggest that Wolves are willing to listen to offers for the defender and they will be selling him without any contest from their side. The defender was linked for a move to Premier League clubs last year as well but he stayed put at the West Midlands club. The defender, though, will be slightly disappointed that he never managed a senior team appearance and he can probably play his first game in the Championship for Norwich City next season.

However, it won’t be easy for the Canaries to lure him in as they are competing for his signature with a Premier League club. If Brighton makes a concrete offer for the defender, then he is most likely to join them. Though Norwich City will probably be able to give him much more regular game time and a move to Carrow Road might prove to be a better move for the overall development of the player, it might be too hard for the youngster to stay away from the temptation of Premier League football.
