Manchester United are lining up a mega swap deal involving their French forward Anthony Martial in exchange for Chelsea‘s Willian this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is eager to be reunited with the Brazilian and is ready to give up Martial in an attempt to land him when the transfer window opens in the summer. Mourinho’s side suffered another disappointing loss away at Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night as they failed to unlock the Seagulls defence.

Someone of Willian’s calibre can definitely help United going forward as he has been exceptional for Chelsea over the last few years. Meanwhile, Martial’s form has dipped after the turn of the year with the Frenchman registering just one Premier League goal in 2018 so far. Some sources are now claiming that the United forward is attracting interest from Chelsea, Juventus and Arsenal, who are all ready to battle it out for his signature in the summer.

It is believed that United are ready to accept a bid in the region of £40m for the French youngster if they can get Willian in return. Mourinho has already signed players from Stamford Bridge in the past as evidenced by Nemanja Matic’s move to Manchester last summer. Hence, a deal could be possible between the two clubs if an agreement can be reached.

The Reds of Manchester are still in the second spot in the Premier League rankings with a tally of 77 points in 36 matches. Mourinho is in dire need of some fresh faces in the summer so that he can rebuild his squad ahead of the new campaign.

The potential acquisition of Willian will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s attacking options and improve his side significantly ahead of the new campaign. However, the loss of Martial could deplete the United team and hamper their chances in the long-run. The Brazilian is a solution for today while the Frenchman could be a star in the future. It is a call that Mourinho has to make in order to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

Willian has made 51 appearances for the West London outfit this season, scoring 13 goals while providing 12 assists in all competitions. In contrast, Martial has featured in 44 matches for United this term, finding the back of the net 11 times while grabbing 9 assists across all competitions. At 22, Martial has a bright future and the Red Devils should do all they can to hang on to him in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of both these players and whether they end up switching clubs in the near future.
