Liverpool are plotting a move for SS Lazio keeper Thomas Strakosha this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are planning to make a move for the Albania international during this summer transfer period. It is believed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for a new keeper after his number one goalie Loris Karius made two huge errors in the Champions League final which cost the Reds their 6th European trophy last weekend.
Some sources are now claiming that the Merseyside outfit are ready to make an offer of €30m (£26.3m) for the Serie A goalkeeper this summer. The Albania goalie has put in a number of outstanding performances for the Italian side during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed. He has the potential to be a long-term solution to the Reds’ goalkeeping problems so Klopp should go all out to land him in this post-season.
Strakosha had made 53 appearances for Lazio last season, conceding 65 goals while keeping 17 clean sheets in all competitions. At 23, he still has his prime years ahead of him which the Reds could look to utilise in the coming years.
The Merseyside outfit managed to finish in the top 4 last season and also had a strong European campaign but eventually lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final. Jurgen Klopp needs to bring in some quality reinforcements in this ongoing transfer period so that his side is strong enough to compete on all fronts next season.
The addition of Strakosha will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s goalkeeping options ahead of the new campaign. Liverpool have the likes of Loris Karius, Simon Mignolet, Danny Ward and Adam Bogdan vying for a starting berth in their first XI. The potential signing of Strakosha might be a significant upgrade over their current goalkeeping options as the Reds look to mount a realistic title challenge in the next campaign.
The Albania international has already proven his worth in the Italian top-flight. However, he is still unproven in English football so only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League next season. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Strakosha and whether he ends up sealing a move to Anfield this summer in search of greener pastures.
