Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has claimed that he “knows nothing” about Christian Pulisic’s potential move to Liverpool in the summer. According to recent reports, the US international is a long-term target for the Reds and is highly regarded by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Merseyside outfit has previously tried to sign the American midfielder back in 2016 but saw their £11m bid declined by the Bundesliga club. However, the Reds chiefs are still keeping tabs on the player and monitoring his progress at Dortmund. Some sources in Germany are claiming that Jurgen Klopp’s team are ready to spend €60m in order to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield when the transfer window opens in the summer.
Pulisic has become one of Dortmund’s standout performances this season and has put in some sensational performances during the course of this campaign which has not gone unnoticed. The American winger has featured in 40 matches for the German club this season, scoring 5 goals and grabbing 7 assists in all competitions. He also has 20 international caps and 9 goals to his name for the United States national team so far in his career.
The Merseysiders have managed to book a ticket to Kiev on Wednesday night when they secured a 7-6 aggregate win over AS Roma and will now face off against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final. However, the Reds are yet to secure Champions League qualification for next season and will look to earn a result away at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on Sunday.
The potential acquisition of Pulisic will undoubtedly bolster Klopp’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Liverpool have the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain vying for a place in Klopp’s starting eleven. The addition of Pulisic will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places within the Reds team.
The 19-year-old wide man has massive potential, which Liverpool could look to fulfil at Anfield in the coming years. Pulisic is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the midfield. The Dortmund youngster can play on either flank or in the number 10 position which makes him a perfect fit for the Reds. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Pulisic and whether he ends up making a switch to Merseyside in the near future.
