Everton have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur fullback Danny Rose. Rose has had a tough time last season as he struggled with injuries and had to fight for a place with Ben Davies. Mauricio Pochettino has preferred the Welshman over the English defender and it seems like Rose’s time at the North London club is coming to an end.
Rose has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and if the Red Devils decided to have their man, there is no way Everton will be able to match their bid. The reports suggest that Spurs are looking for a fee in the region of £37m. The Merseyside club, under the new ownership of Farhad Moshiri, has shown ambition in the transfer market and they might have an outside chance to pick up the highly rated defender.
The Red Devils interest has cooled since last summer as Rose has been sidelined with several injuries but they are expected to make a move for him. Everton are currently looking for a long-term replacement for their 33-year-old left-back Leighton Baines. Baines has been a loyal servant for the Merseyside club over the years but one cannot expect him to carry on forever, especially in a league like the Premier League.
Rose has recently been picked for England’s squad for the World Cup and if he impresses everyone with his performance in Russia, his stocks can certainly go higher. There was an altercation between the defender and the Spurs management regarding the wage structure earlier in the season and that could be one of the hurdles for Toffees if they want to bring him in.
The 27-year-old played just 17 times in all competitions this season and at Everton, he will most likely be a regular starter. He reportedly earns £60,000 a week and the Merseyside club will probably have to pay more than that. That is where a club like Manchester United might have an edge over Everton as they can easily lure him on a 100,000 a week wage plus he will get to play European football which the Toffees cannot offer.

Rose will certainly bolster the squad at Everton as he has been around the blocks for quite some time. He is known for his impressive pace and his defensive abilities are also up to the mark. However, it remains to be seen that whether they will be able to lure the Englishman if any other big club comes calling for his signature.
