Sources claim that Swansea City’s Jordan Ayew is strongly considering a move to the Scottish Premiership winners, Celtic. The director of football at Ghanaian club Berekum Chelsea, Nana Oduro Sarfo said, “Jordan has had offers from several clubs after Swansea City’s relegation last season. He will surely not play in the Championship with them. Liverpool have shown interest in him but Scottish side Celtic and their coach seem to be serious with their interest.”

“I believe he may go to Scotland looking at how events are unfolding since they want to meet every demand. They speak English just like in England so he can express himself well in there and meet the expectations in the league.”

This, unfortunately, for the Swans, is not the most shocking revelations in recent weeks as their relegation to the Championship does place them in a less advantageous position of keeping high profile names like Ayew. The Ghana international is one of the most prolific forwards who reportedly cost the side £5.3m two seasons back.

In the present market conditions and with the two years left on his contract, Ayew might have been worth twice that much if City maintained their Premier League status. Unfortunately, Carlos Carvalhal’s last-ditch attempt was not enough to wash away the club’s initial woes in the 2017/18 season and they had to succumb to the dreaded relegation.

Now while the Welsh outfit plans on fighting their way out of the English second division, Celtic are fast approaching on a few key signings that will definitely put them over the top of all local rivals.

The Bhoys were at their dominant best again in the last season, winning the treble a consecutive second time and humiliating their bitter rivals, Rangers twice in the process. Brendan Rodgers seems to have accumulated a very young core of talented players who have the pedigree to make it to the very top.

Ayew will not be an exception to such a decorated squad and finally might just be able to hang some medals around his neck instead of worrying about relegation every season. The 26-year-old struck 11 times last term to help keep Swansea’s survival battle alive but in vain.

He is fast, athletic and highly versatile in the final third. He has 12 goals in his 46 caps for his country and has finally hit a scoring run. If Celtic are ready to meet all of his demands, then this should come as a massive boost for the fans, now that their pursuit for Odsonne Edouard has hit stumbling blocks.
