Burnley are interested in securing the signature of Bristol City full-back Joe Bryan this summer. According to recent reports, the Clarets are eyeing a move to bring the Skybet Championship full-back to Lancashire with the hope that the lure of Premier League football would be enough to prise him away from the Ashton Gate Stadium.
However, they are not the only ones who are chasing the Robins full-back with Aston Villa and Everton also looking to secure the Scottish talent’s signature during this summer transfer period. Bryan can be considered as one of the brightest prospects in English football after he put in some match-winning performances for the Robins during the course of last season.
Burnley boss Seach Dyche could be on the lookout for a new left-back in order to strengthen his defensive options at the club. The Clarets were defensively resolute last season and conceded just 39 goals in 38 league matches which will be a difficult feat to replicate next term. However, Bryan has a lot to offer going forward as well, which will definitely give the Clarets an added dimension in the attacking third.
Bryan had featured in 48 matches for Bristol City last season, scoring 7 goals while grabbing 3 assists across all competitions. His stats prove how attack-minded he can be which is why Dyche should do all he can to seal a move for him this summer.
The Lancashire side would want to get their transfer dealings done early ahead of their Europa League play-offs which are set to start in July. They managed to earn a strong seventh-place finish in the league last term but improving on that finish will be no easy feat.
The addition of Bryan will bolster Dyche’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign. Burnley have the likes of Stephen Ward, Matthew Lowton, Charlie Taylor and Phil Bardsley competing for a starting berth in Dyche’s first-team. The potential acquisition of Bryan will definitely improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Burnley squad.
At 24, the Scottish left-back still has his peak years ahead of him which the Clarets could look to utilise in the coming years. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Bryan and whether Burnley are successful in fending off strong competition in pursuit of the Championship ace’s signature this summer.
