Arsenal are in talks with RB Leipzig wide man Emil Forsberg’s agent over a potential move in the summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are looking to secure the services of the Swedish winger during this summer transfer period. However, they are not the only ones looking to recruit the Bundesliga star with Juventus and Atletico Madrid also keeping tabs on his progress at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig.
The Swedish international has put in a number of impressive performances for RB Leipzig during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed. Some sources are now claiming that the German outfit will demand a fee in excess of £45m ($60.1m) for their prized asset. It is also been suggested that they are willing to offer a new contract to Forsberg in order to retain his services for the long run.
The 26-year-old had made 33 appearances for Leipzig last season, scoring 5 goals while grabbing 4 assists in all competitions. Forsberg has also earned 33 international caps for the Swedish national team and has 6 international goals to his name so far. He will definitely be a clever signing for Arsenal if they can pull off such a move in this transfer window.
The North London outfit were only able to earn a 6th placed finish in the Premier League last season which means that they will be without UEFA Champions League football for at least another season. Hence, Unai Emery is in dire need to bring in some talented players this summer who can help them compete for top honours next year.
The addition of Forsberg will undoubtedly bolster Emery’s attacking options ahead of the new season. Arsenal have a whole host of talented wide players such as Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck, Alex Iwobi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles competing for a starting berth at the Emirates Stadium. The potential acquisition of Forsberg will add more competition for places within Emery’s squad and improve their team significantly in the upcoming campaign.

Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Forsberg and whether the Gunners can manage to convince him to ply his trade at the Emirates Stadium next term.
