Burnley will entertain Bournemouth at the Turf Moor as part of the final league game of their season looking to return to winning ways. The Clarets have recently been going through a slump and are winless in their last four league fixtures. However, they will clash heads with a Bournemouth team who can’t buy a victory away from home.
The recent history of this fixture makes a grim reading for the away side as they have won just once in their last nine meetings with the Lancashire team. Sean Dyche is expected to opt for a 4-4-2 and does not have any fresh injury concerns to deal with. However, he might choose to bring back Tom Heaton and Chris Wood into his starting eleven for this encounter on Sunday.
4-4-2 Burnley Predicted Lineup To Face Bournemouth
Tom Heaton could lineup ahead of Nick Pope in goal for the Clarets for their last home match of the campaign. He might be guarded by a back four consisting of Kevin Long and James Tarkowski at the heart of the defence while Matthew Lowton operates as the right-back and Stephen Ward plays in the left-back position.
Most of the success of this Burnley team has been built on their strong defensive displays this term. Sean Dyche’s side has just conceded 37 goals in 37 Premier League matches so far which is the fifth best defensive record in the division. We can expect another strong display at the back by the Clarets but whether they can keep a clean sheet against the Cherries remains to be seen.
Jack Cork and Ashley Westwood will start for the home side at the centre of the park with Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson operating down the left touchline while Aaron Lennon looks to use his pace on the right flank. It will up to the midfield four to aid their defence and also provide support to their forwards in the opposition half.
Ashley Barnes could spearhead the Clarets attack up top alongside the returning Chris Wood. Both strikers are going through a rough patch in front of goal so they will be desperate to register their names on the scoresheet in the final game of the season. Barnes has made 39 appearances for Burnley this season, scoring 10 goals across all competitions.
Sean Dyche may call upon the services of Sam Vokes from the bench to break down the Cherries defence if required.
