Rangers are set to part ways with their Scottish winger Michael O’Halloran this summer. According to recent reports, the Gers flop could be pushed out of the door at the Ibrox Stadium during this summer transfer period. The new Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign which means that he would also need to get rid of some deadwood, as a summer of transition awaits the Glaswegian club.
Some sources have recently claimed that Motherwell are leading the hunt to secure O’Halloran’s signature in this post-season. The Scottish wide man is a major target for the Steelmen and a potential move could materialise in the coming months. Recent reports have also suggested that O’Halloran is deemed surplus to requirements at the Ibrox. However, Motherwell are not the only ones looking to recruit him with St. Johnstone also keeping tabs on his situation at the Glaswegian club.
The 27-year-old joined the Teddy Bears on a four-and-a-half year deal when Mark Warburton secured his services for £500,000 in the winter of 2016. However, he has struggled to make a positive impact at the Ibrox so far and is likely to be shipped out in order to make room for other players in the Gers squad.
The Teddy Bears only managed to claim a third-place finish in the Scottish top tier last season. With the appointment of Steven Gerrard, it will be a period of transition for the Glaswegian giants as they look to close the gap to their bitter rivals, Celtic in the new few years.
Retaining some of their top talents could go a long way in helping them compete for some major silverware next term. However, O’Halloran has failed to cut the mustard at the Ibrox last season which is why a potential move out of Glasgow could be the best solution for all parties. The Scottish wide man can benefit from playing football week in week out in some other club which could help him reignite his career.

The Gers can use the money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of their squad. The 27-year-old had featured in 18 matches for the Glaswegian outfit last season while scoring 5 goals in all competitions. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of O’Halloran and whether he ends up parting ways with Gerrard’s team this summer.
