Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed a terrific season under Nuno Espirito Santo as they have secured a move to the English top-flight. The former Porto manager has been a revelation as his tactics and strategies have been spot on throughout the season.
He has also been shrewd in the transfer market as Wolves had got 5-6 players on loan who have played a crucial part in their promotion to the Premier League. Backed by new owners, the manager signed his former Porto player Ruben Neves for a club record fee of£15.8million. A move like that shows that the new owners are willing to splash the cash to achieve their targets.
Ruben Neves has been an instrumental player for the West -Midlands outfit in the middle of the park.He was nominated for the EFL Championship Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards plus was also included in the EFL Championship Team of the Season. With performances like these, he is expected to be picked for the Portuguese national squad for the upcoming World cup.
However, such performances are sure to catch big clubs attention and with summer transfer window soon approaching, Neves has been linked with Italian giants AC Milan. The Milan board has a good relation with Jorge Mendes who is agent for quite a few top players including the Portuguese midfielder and the Milan outfit will be backing on this relationship to secure Neves’s move to San Siro.
Although recently Neves at the EFL awards claimed that he is currently happy at the club and will look to play for the newly promoted side in the English top division. Regarding his future at the club, he said-”Honestly, I love to play here. I love the boys and I love the fans. I am really happy here.Of course, it is my first season in the Premier League. It is the place that Wolves deserve. The fans deserve it as well.I have it all to stay, but in football, we never know. Yes, I would like to stay. When I came here, I came to improve myself and help the club.”
“Fortunately, I have improved myself this year in a really good league so I am happy to be here. I love the club and I love the fans. I am happy to be here and fortunately, we are in the Premier League and that’s the most important thing.” -he further added.
Such words will bring a sigh of relief to Wolves fans as they will surely want their star man to stay. However, heads can turn if AC Milan comes up with a big offer for the midfielder. But as of now, it seems that he will continue with his current club.
