West Ham United have reportedly been monitoring the prospects of out-of-favour Birmingham City winger, Viv Solomon-Otabor who himself is looking to quit the struggling Championship side. David Moyes is looking to bolster the club in the summer and the Nigerian wide man could arrive for cheap.
Birmingham City manager, Harry Redknapp has already made it known that Solomon-Otabor will not feature much for the club, which ended up forcing the 22-year-old to be sent out on loan to Blackpool.
In the League One competition, Otabor impressed in his 45 total appearances while registering a decent tally of 5 goals and 6 assists.
He spent the second half of the 2016/17 season with Bolton Wanderers and made 4 league appearances. The winger’s discipline has somehow stood out for plenty of interested parties.
Otabar knows how to spread and supply the ball from the wide areas. From the substitute appearances, he is always a threat with his pace and dribbling abilities.
Standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall, the youngster still has time to develop into a full-fledged professional for a top-tier English side. He hails from London, England but was invited by Nigeria Olympic Team to undergo a trial in June 2015. He even trained with the Nigerian team ahead of 2015 All Africa Campaign.
Maybe the time is now to make the switch to the London Stadium and start breaking the ranks. The Hammers do need wingers in the squad and are looking to restrengthen in the next summer window.
Their season at the Premier League has been eventful but not as per the wishes of the fans. West Ham United are in the 15th spot of the points table and are clear from the relegation spots by 6 points.
With Stoke City and Southampton struggling to put up points, the Irons could just save themselves from the drop to the Championship, with 3 games still left in the regular season.
However, a similar story cannot follow suit next season and necessary signings will have to be made. Solomon-Otabor could fit into the role Andre Ayew has left behind while departing for Swansea City last January.

The club is overstacked with the central midfield and striking options but do not have a competent winger, other than an 18-year old Sead Haksabanovic and Michail Antonio (the latter is better suited as a central option). So it can be said that the addition of a player like Otabor might end Moyes’ worries for more than one position.
