Liverpool are plotting a summer move for SSC Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski. According to recent reports, the Merseyside outfit could reignite their interest in the 23-year-old midfielder when the transfer window opens in the summer. The Reds previously had a £11.5m declined by Udinese in the summer of 2016, with the Polish international opting for a move to the Naples-based club instead.
He has developed his game well at San Paolo over the last few seasons and has established himself as one of the most influential members of the current Napoli squad during the course of this campaign which has led to his Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri praising him as a potential successor of Kevin De Bruyne. Some sources are now claiming that the Serie A star is a transfer target for Liverpool in the off-season and Jurgen Klopp could be lining up a move for him at the end of the season.
Zielinski has featured in 40 matches for Napoli this season, scoring 8 goals and creating 2 assists in all competitions. The Poland international is extremely versatile and can operate as a central midfielder or on the left flank which makes him a perfect fit for Klopp’s Reds.
The Reds of Merseyside are currently flying high in the Premier League and find themselves in the 3rd position with a tally of 70 points in 34 matches. Klopp’s team have recently secured a convincing 3-0 home victory in their last league outing and are in an ideal position to secure a top 4 place this season.
The potential signing of Zielinski will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options as they look to mount a realistic title challenge next term. Liverpool have the likes of Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain vying for a place in Klopp’s senior team with the impending arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer. The addition of the Polish midfielder will definitely add more competition for places in the Reds squad.
