Juventus are prepared to pull the plug on a potential deal to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer. According to recent reports, the Italian giants have given up hope in the chase of the English talent’s signature when the transfer window opens in the summer.
The Gunners midfield enforcer will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and will be free to choose his next destination. It is believed that the North Londoners have offered him a new, long-term deal in recent weeks but Wilshere is no closer to committing his future at the Emirates Stadium. However, it is expected that the England international’s future will be resolved soon after the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger announced on Friday morning that he will step down as the Arsenal manager at the end of the season.
Some sources have recently linked Juventus with a move for Wilshere in the off-season. However, they are not the only ones keeping tabs on his situation at Arsenal, with clubs from the Bundesliga and the Premier League also interested in securing his services. It is understood that Juve has dropped out of the race as they no longer see Wilshere as a priority addition to their squad. This latest development will give the Gunners some hope of keeping hold of Wilshere’s talents beyond this summer.
The North London outfit looks set to finish in the sixth position in the Premier League table and currently have a tally of 57 points in 34 league fixtures. The Gunners are in need of some injection of quality in the summer but whether Wilshere will still be part of the club by then, remains to be seen.
The 26-year-old midfielder has made 37 appearances for Arsenal this season, scoring two goals while providing 5 assists in all competitions. Arsene Wenger’s team cannot afford to lose a player of his talents, especially considering how the club had to let go of Alexis Sanchez when the Chilean sealed his move to Manchester United earlier this year. The London club should do all they can to retain Wilshere’s services for years to come. The Englishman has already proven in the past that he can be a match-winner on his day and to lose someone of his ability will undoubtedly be a massive blow for the Gunners ahead of the new season.

However, his poor track record with injuries will be a growing concern for the North London club. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Wilshere and whether he pens a new deal at the Emirates Stadium in the near future.
