Bristol City star Bobby Reid has enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2017-18 season. The striker has scored 19 goals in 44 games adding six assists on the way and is now attracting interest from multiple English clubs including few in the English Premier League. The 25-year old has a contract that expires at the end of the current season.
With Reid yet to commit long-term to the club, the other clubs will be waiting patiently for the summer window to open. Bristol are aware of the situation with the player and want to tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible. They also have the option to extend Reid’s contract by twelve months but they want to possibly strike a longer deal with the player who has come through the youth academy at Ashton Gate.
Reid will be keen on the offer from Bournemouth as it would offer him a chance to test himself at the highest level. His impressive form would earn him a starting spot and it would be down to him to nail down the position. It seems a good offer to consider at the age of 25 if the player holds serious ambition of playing at the highest level.
As for Bournemouth, the Cherries are in no mood to rest on their laurels and want to continue to grow in the Premier League. After securing a promotion in the 2014-15 season to the Premier League, they finished 16th on their first campaign in England’s premier club competition. They surprised everyone by doing even better and finished a record high ninth in the league last year. Things have been difficult this year with the club currently sitting in the 10th position. They have failed to find the net on a regular basis with the Cherries only scoring 37 goals in 31 league games.
They have won nine and lost thirteen this season and look set to avoid the drop if they can maintain a little bit of form in the last eight games. Moreover, with Eddie Howe in charge, the club can still hope to pull off more miracles and continue their footballing journey in England’s top flight.
It would seem that securing the Premier League spot this year, would allow the club to develop the squad in the summer. It is here that the signing of Reid could prove to be useful. Reid could be a vital addition to the low-scoring Cherries team and with Jermain Defoe nearing retirement, Reid could form a lethal partnership with Callum Wilson.
