3 Replacements To Consider For 32 Y/O Defender At Arsenal Including This Championship Star!

Arsenal are preparing to bring in a long-term replacement for their Spanish defender Nacho Monreal. According to recent reports, the Gunners are eager to bring in a fresh face to play in defence and with Monreal in his 30’s, it seems highly unlikely that they will look for his long-term successor in the near future.

It is believed that Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is ready to make at least three new signings when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season and will aim to bolster their goal-scoring options while also adding another holding midfielder and a centre back. Monreal has featured in 28 matches for the Gunners this season, scoring 5 goals while making 2 assists in all competitions. His current contract with the North London outfit is set to run until the summer of 2019.

Let’s take a look at three potential replacements for Arsene Wenger to consider ahead of the new campaign.

Ryan Sessegnon

The Fulham left-back has been in terrific form this season which has attracted the attention of a whole host of clubs in recent times. He has featured in 40 matches for the London club this term, finding the back of the net 14 times while also providing 4 assists in all competitions. The 17-year-old is currently one of the most promising full-backs in English football and the Gunners will do well to lure him to North London.

Arthur Masuaku

The Gunners can also look to recruit a full-back with more Premier League experience as in the case of this West Ham United left-back. The 24-year-old has been in terrific form for the Hammers this term and has made 25 appearances for the east London club in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists. His league form this season justifies that he could turn out to be a great asset for the North Londoners if they decided to opt for his services in the near future.

Joe Bryan

The Bristol City left-back has put in some excellent displays this season which included a memorable man-of-the-match performance against Manchester United in his side’s triumph over the Red Devils in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup. The 24-year-old has played in 40 matches for Bristol City this term, scoring five goals and creating two assists across all competitions. He will be a perfect fit for Arsene Wenger’s playing style at the Emirates Stadium. At 24, he still has his peak years ahead of him, which the Gunners could look to utilise in the coming years.
