3 Replacements For 29 Y/O In-Form Forward In Case He Leaves Manchester City For His Former Club!

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has stated his desire to depart the Etihad Stadium in favour of a move back to his homeland when his contract runs out in the summer of 2020. According to recent reports, the Argentine striker has revealed that he wants to return to Independiente when his current deal with the Citizens expires in a few years time.

Aguero signed for City in the summer of 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has gone on to become a regular goal-scorer at Manchester which has seen him being labelled as a ‘legend’ by City boss Pep Guardiola. He has just over two years left to run on his contract with the club. The Argentina international has recently addressed his future and was quoted to have said

“I always said that I would like to return to Independiente when my contract ends with City, which is in 2020. I am not thinking about that now. I am focused on finishing the season well and reaching the World Cup.”

The Buenos Aires-born forward has featured in 37 matches for City this season, finding the back of the net 30 times while creating 7 assists across all competitions. Let’s take a look at three replacements for Sergio Aguero if the Argentine forward ends up leaving the Etihad Stadium in the near future.

Gonzalo Higuain

The Argentine forward has been one of the best goal-scorers in the Serie A over the last few years during his time at Napoli and now, at Juventus. He has made 39 appearances for the Italian giants this season, scoring 22 goals while creating 6 assists in all competitions. At 30, the South American striker still has a good few years left in him to play at the top level which makes him an ideal option for Manchester City to consider.

Harry Kane

The English striker has been in a rich vein of form for Tottenham Hotspur in the last few years. He has developed himself into a prolific goal-scorer and at 24, he still has his peak years ahead of him which Guardiola’s side could look capitalise on in the next few years. The England international has featured in 39 matches for Spurs this season, scoring 35 goals and providing 4 assists in all competitions.

Robert Lewandowski

The 29-year-old Polish ace has been lighting up the Bundesliga with some impressive performances for Bayern Munich this season. He has been a consistent goal-scorer in the top tier of German football over the last few years which makes him a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s City. The Poland international has made 37 appearances for the Bavarians this season, scoring 32 goals and creating 4 assists in all competitions. At 29, he still has a good few years left in him to play at the top level which the Citizens could look to utilise in the coming years.
