Fenerbahce are hoping to secure the signature of West Bromwich Albion wide man Nacer Chadli this summer. According to recent reports, the Turkish giants are planning on making a swoop for the Belgian international when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.
It is highly likely that the Baggies will be relegated to the Skybet Championship this season and so they will have to part ways with some of their big-earning players in the off-season. The 28-year-old has not featured for the West Midlands outfit this year after suffering an injury last December. Some sources are claiming that the Yellow Canaries are keeping tabs on his situation at the Hawthorns ahead of a potential transfer in the summer.
Chadli has just made 3 appearances for the Baggies this season and has just one Premier League goal to his name. He arrived at the Hawthorns from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2016. However, the Belgian has failed to make an impact this term which has led to West Brom being rooted at the bottom of the league table with just seven matches remaining in this campaign.
It seems highly likely that West Brom will suffer the drop so the club might appoint a new manager this summer, who can help them bounce back to the top-flight immediately next season. Hence, it will be a tough ask for them to retain some of their star players like Chadli with a season in the second tier looming on the horizon.
The Baggies are currently struggling in the Premier League and find themselves rock bottom of the league going into the final stretch of the season. Alan Pardew’s men are in dire need of some positive results in the coming weeks after another disappointing display away at Bournemouth last weekend in a game, which they narrowly lost by a 2-1 scoreline.
The departure of Chadli will significantly deplete their squad but West Brom can use the money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of their team. The 28-year-old ex-Spurs player has a wealth of experience at the international level and has represented the Belgium national team 42 times while scoring 5 goals for his nation during his career. He is highly versatile and can be deployed on either flank or in the number 10 position which makes him a good fit for any of his potential suitors. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Chadli and whether he ends up making a switch to Turkish football this summer.
