Manchester United are planning to sign another midfielder in the summer to help them get the best out of their French midfielder Paul Pogba. According to Daily Mail, the Red Devils are looking to sign a new midfielder next summer who can compliment Paul Pogba’s style of play at Old Trafford. The Frenchman has struggled with injuries recently but has been an important member of Jose Mourinho’s squad who are currently in second place in the Premier League standings. The 24-year-old has made 21 appearances for the Manchester outfit this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions.
Pogba has failed to score regularly for United which will be a cause for concern given the midfielder’s incredible talents. Jose Mourinho is now looking to bring a new face in who can boss the midfield along with Pogba as the Red Devils look to bridge the gap between themselves and league leaders Manchester City going into the new campaign. It is being reported that Manchester United are plotting a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal in the summer which indicates the calibre of players they are looking for.
Let’s take a look at three potential midfield options for Jose Mourinho to consider when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
The Chilean midfield enforcer has been in fine form for Bayern Munich over the last few seasons. The 30-year-old has made 26 appearances for the Bundesliga giants this season, scoring 6 goals while also creating 2 assists in all competitions. He is exactly the kind of player who can compliment Paul Pogba at the heart of the United midfield if the Red Devils decided to opt for his services in the summer.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder has enjoyed an amazing campaign so far and has put in some dazzling performances for the La Liga club. The 23-year-old has featured in 31 matches for the Madrid based outfit and has found the back of the net 3 times while providing 2 assists across all competitions. At 23, he still has his peak years ahead of him which Jose Mourinho’s side could look to utilise in the coming years.
The French midfielder has been a solid presence for Paris Saint-Germain in the last few years and has regularly featured for the Parisians this season. He has played in 28 matches for PSG this season, scoring 2 goals and making 4 assists in all competitions. The 25-year-old is known for his defensive talents and also has a knack for scoring and creating goals. He will be the perfect candidate to pair up with Paul Pogba going into the future at Old Trafford.
